Reflections on Rejections
Ezra Campos applied to serve a two year LDS mission and was rejected weeks before his assigned start date.
He then applied to attend BYU-Hawaii and was rejected days before the first day of class. He was worthy to serve. He was intelligent enough to stay in school. He was not healthy enough for the environments.
Ezra has a disorder called Hemophilia or excessive bleeding. Unlike most people his blood will not clot when he bleeds. This made tasks like serving a mission or playing sports difficult for him.
He decided to serve a service mission and teach early morning seminary to youth in his area. He started out with one student. After reaching out to youth and church leaders he was able to build up a class of 25 students.
But still he felt a call to go to a LDS school. Moving past his fear of failure he sent out a few more applications and to his surprise, he was accepted into BYU-Idaho.
He knows he has a purpose here he is just searching for what that purpose is and how he can use that to help others in his home country who suffer from Hemophilia.
