New Galar Pokémon

Bright and early this morning there was a Nintendo Direct for the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games.

To begin, lets list the new Pokémon that were featured in the video:

So this looks like the "starting bird" of the region which is great because it looks like it will be replacing any flying Pokémon in the history of the game ever. Fans are already super excited about it.This Pokémon is unique because you can use this Pokémon almost like a rental and fly back to a city that you have already been to. This feature is similar to the "Ride Pokémon" in Sun and Moon.

Next is Drednaw which is basically a snapping turtle. I'm really hoping there will be an evolution for this Pokémon but since they described it as, "extremely vicious, and it takes a skilled Trainer to tame and handle this Pokémon." With another cute note that, "some Trainers will release Drednaw back into the wild once they discover they can’t handle it." I might not even bother with it.

Cute? Yes. Fitting for the region? Yes. Will I try and catch it? Only if its evolved form impresses me more than this little lamb.

These two were unique to the live stream because this is the first evolution line we have seen in the Galar region. Both are said to have healing properties to plants and humans and prefer cleaner areas. This is an interesting note since the Galar region is a more industrial region which could produce some areas of pollution. It is just a thought.

It is also worth noting that Eldegoss is the signature Pokémon for the Grass style Gym Leader.

Finally, at the end of the broadcast we were able to see the first looks of the new Legendary Pokémon. It should be noted that their color scheme is VERY similar to that of Keldeo. In fact, there are very large hints and influences of Pokémon Black and White in the trailer. Check out our later articles about those hints!
