Surprise! "The New Avengers": Dale's Dream Film

MAN. I'm SUPER psyched for this!!

What would a New Avengers movie look like? Lemme tell you...
The New Avengers!!

With Marvel laying the framework for a new universe of heroes, it would be well within their interest to introduce enemies, heroes and settings that open the MCU wide open with potential storylines. After all, we got 22 films from one, singular Iron Man.

Part of the biggest reason the MCU has worked is because of casting. Another huge part is the storytelling. The BIGGEST reason these films have taken off is the love the fans have for this franchise, which leads me to my next point.

Disney and Marvel have something amazing up their sleeves: audience conditioning. It comes as great, quality products are introduced to their clients (us, the consumers) and we become RAVENOUS to consume their product. It's supply and demand.

Part of what seperates films, particularly the MCU, from your local grocery mart is that the grocery mart can't add a hint of orange flavor to your apples because you ask for it. The MCU actually LISTENS to its audience, and plays to their opinions and desires. Because of that, they're going to do something BIG this movie, but only in a subtle way, revealed in a post-credit scene (or two), as they did with Thanos in Marvel's Avengers.

If this new team is going to be anything as fun as the original Avengers film was, we need to see a few key members of the comic team, AND the MCU team together. Also keep in mind, this is a rough, ROUGH draft of where I could see things going. I don't know the original comics, and all I have is the MCU, but based PURELY off of that, I think we could get a great movie.

Here's the lineup for the New Avengers:

Spiderman: Leader, for now, supported and tutored by Nick Fury until he screws up. He's basicall a stand in for Fury himself, but still trying to learn.

Black Panther: Supplies tech, stealth, reconnaissance, and a friggin army if needed (or if the team comes close to Wakanda)

Doctor Strange, Professor Hulk: strategy and research, teaming up with the Wakandans to kick the crap out of any scientific/metaphysical challenge.

Captain Marvel: NEW leader, brash and all-powerful, but still a force to be reckoned with. Tutored by Strange.

The Wasp/Ant-man: More tech support (lols) and just cool dynamic with shrinking and growing. Heck, I'd be satisfied with just the Wasp. We need more girlpower on this team!

My dream plot for the New Avengers would begin as follows:

Back in SM: FFH, the new threat Nick Fury wants Peter Parker’s help with is actually the Mutants of the MCU. I would like to see the Mutants gradually exposed, and used as one of the main sources of conflict in New Avengers, but they should NOT be the main antagonist. Again, WE DO NOT SEE MUTANTS LIKE THE X-MEN IMMEDIATELY IN THE MCU. We’ve already seen too many X-Men flicks recently, and people need time to reset their brains a bit with a new franchise. But this is how Peter, Black Panther, and even Ant-Man and the Wasp (or just Wasp because Scott doesn’t wanna leave his daughter) get tangled up into the fray on behalf of SHIELD. This brings me to the cosmic entities from GOTG3, Cosmic power from Carol Danvers, and the Quantum Realm from Ant-Man.

The New Avengers (which at this point are just Spidey, T’Challa, and Ant-man and the Wasp on earth) are fighting a squad of mutants. Maybe they're doing things intentionally, or maybe they just lost control of their abilities and need help. Regardless, Nick Fury calls the team back to consult with a scientist who is in the process of connecting Earth to the stars using the Quantum Realm, to try to dissuade him. Sure, earth may have space tech from reverse engineering Chitari tech or even Tony Stark's, but this scientist is sure of his work, and wants to really tap into the natural energies of the Quantum Realm. He posits that such energies already give great power to people like Carol Danvers, and the matter of harnessing it will be much easier if facilitated by alien, or magical tech.

That scientist is Reed Richards (played by John Krasinski), as he's supported by his fiance Sue Storm (either Emily Blunt, or Rosamund Pike… Google her, she’s gorgeous, and a cerebral actress). While performing his experiments, Sue’s brother Johnny (NOT Chris Evans, lols again) stops by with Reed’s buddy Ben Grimm.

Actually, scratch that, they don't even have to ride together, they just have to show up. They could bicker and argue like we've seen in previous comics.

Well, the Avengers arrive at Richards' lab, they try to push him to stop, Richards says they're wrong and turns the machine on anyway, the experiment goes wrong and exposes the four of them to cosmic, AND quantum radiation, giving them their powers, and tearing a hole into reality. Doctor Strange swoops in to survey the damage, but it’s already done: demonic beings are stealing Richards’ tech and fleeing as the rift closes. He goes in pursuit while Richards, Sue, Johnny and Ben are whisked away by SHIELD. The Avengers are left with the option to call the Guardians, and Captain Marvel. They have some squabbles, and Fury decides to pull the trigger anyway, calling Danvers.

Little do the Avengers know that one of the scientists and financiers for the Quantum-Cosmic Harnessing Project was also present in the explosion/malfunction, and was also transformed at the molecular level. While he may have been friends with Reed (and feeling chagrined for being betrayed, disappointed and left behind by such a friend, 'left for dead'), he goes on vengeance story arc. This is Victor Von Doom. He's been working with Baron Mordo to determine if science could break the barriers between dimensions and unleash more power for their use. As Doctor Strange pursues the demonic creatures, Doom is hot on his heels, sensing energy that does not belong in this dimension like a sixth sense. He also senses electrical energy, syphoning it and redirecting it unintentionally. He doesn't have a lot of control, and frankly, he doesn't have a lot of power compared to what we imagine him with in the comics. But with each blast of energy, he becomes more and more metallic, as his powers metamorphosize him into a freak.

I'd like to see Doom coerse these demonic entities into serving him, or at least get them to accept him as he attempts to follow them. From there, Doom convinces them that he will help them power up, and defend their bridge to the other dimension. He really wants to do this to gain favor with a cosmic level being, something he researches feverishly after his experiences as a witness to the destruction of Great Britain during the events of Thor: the Dark World.

Well, the Avengers catch wind of this from Doctor Strange, they get the band together, talk with Professor Hulk about potential scientific stuff they could do to negate the Quantum-Cosmic Tunnel, realize they don't have enough power, and that's when Captain Marvel comes down quipping that she was just here like, last week (from Endgame). They deterimine their plain and set it in motion.

Danvers leads the new team to the quantum tunnel where demons are now pouring in, chanting "Dormammu comes, Dormammu comes!" Strange is like, really?? Crap... He does what he can to OWN these demons, but there's too many. That's when the Avengers show up and start kicking tail. Spiderman is doing all kinds of cool stuff, same with Wasp, Black Panther, and even Banner gets a few smashes in. It's all going well until Baron Mordo shows up and helps Doom focus back on the tunnel. Just when all hope seems lost, Carol begins to act strangely. Her skin turns a shade of blue, but her energy rises steadily. Her exposure to the Cosmic-Quantum energy has had an effect on her as well. She explodes out with energy, and becomes Binary, sort of her own evil twin. She goes on a rampage, targeting only Doom. The rest of the Avengers are battling their foes and forcing bigger enemies back into the tunnel.

While Von Doom tries (and fails) to protect the tunnel, he is exposed to more Quantum-Cosmic energy, powering him up even more. He is sucked into the other dimension at the last second, and bada-bing, baba-boom, the Avengers are victorious in repelling another invasion of earth. Now we have a few new arcs to carry out for each of the characters: Spidey needs to learn to be a better leader, Danvers has a dark side she needs to reconcile with, Strange's own 'demons' are still circling, T'Challa is pondering his own spiritality and possibly doubting himself, and the Wasp needs to decide if she's going to sit this new fight out, or if she'll help when she's called.

The Post-Credit Scene(s)

Of COURSE I've gotta include these, right?? And wouldn't you know it, I can think of TWO.

The mid-credits scene shows Nick Fury looking out over four adjacent hospital rooms, with each of the members of the Fantastic Four slowly coming to and discovering their new powers in awe (a narrative flip on the head from Baron Von Strucker as he created the abilities in the Maximoff twins in a spirit of spite and fear).

And speaking of the Maximoffs, we see Wanda coming home after work (she's gotta make a living, right?), flips on the lights, and turns the corner to flip on the TV. As she comes back into the room with her mail, we see someone standing before her. We don't see his face. In fact, we see hers from over his shoulder. But we hear his commanding, endearing voice as he calls her name: "Wanda?"

She stares back at him, and gapes out a foreign word that's translated with subtitles: "Dad?" This is a direct hint at Mutants on the rise in the MCU, particularly the "Mutant Brotherhood."

It's friggin Magneto. It's. friggin. Magneto!!

And that’s what I’ve got so far. I know, it’s wrong, just WRONG of me to introduce this idea without having finished it to perfection, or to leave you on such a cliff hanger with those post-credit scenes, but this is where I want YOUR input. I know there are some superfans out there that can REALLY help me out, and if I’m totally off-base here, if my plot for New Avengers is off-kilter, let me know and include your OWN corrections to my plot summary in the comments below.
