So....The Batwoman Trailer...

So the CW with their catchy phrase "Dare to Defy" recently released the official trailer to "Batwoman" and people are not happy about it.

To be fair, people weren't really happy about it to begin with.

When the show was announced to star "Orange is the New Black" actress Ruby Rose the Twitterverse erupted and purged so much hate on Roses account that she had to shut it down for some time. Steven Amell, star of "Arrow" who just loves to get into everything regarding the "Arrowverse" rightfully called out haters and showed his support for the future "Batwoman" star.

Like all things, the terror died down and life went on...until the trailer dropped.

While parts of me really like this edgy, Christopher Nolan feel of the show. There were moments when I rolled my eyes at the trailer.

Please understand, I completely believe there should be a LGBT superhero out there. Comics are a haven for people who do not fit in and readers can live through these heroes so I believe there should be LGBT characters so those people feel represented.

My issue is the "in your face" approach the CW is taking. The CW already has White Canary (Legends of Tomorrow, Bi-Sexual), Alex Danvers (Supergirl, Lesbian), The Riddler (Gotham, Gay) and Constantine (Legends of Tomorrow, Bi-Sexual) so its not like Batwoman is anything new in that regard. As new of a character Batwoman is to the comics as well as the CW "Arrowverse" she has already kicked a ton of butt and been super hard core. Why not feature that? Why is her sexual orientation the first thing we have to know?

We never do that in real life so why is that how these shows are? No member of the LGBT community (that I've met at least) comes up to me and says, "Hey! I'm [insert name here] and I am a homosexual!"

We should learn about her orientation through the character development. If they have to plaster that all over the trailer then this already screams that this is going to be a poorly written show.

Also, the acting doesn't look award winning either. I'm OK with Rose, she's has talent. It's everyone else I'm concerned about. The villain looks incredibly cheesy, her dad looks way too dramatic and everyone else was forgettable. Except for the guy who tries to Rose from entering the "Bat Cave" who seemed like he will be Luke Fox. He seem like he'll be needed comic relief.

That being said, I am going to give this show a chance. Despite them making Batman look like a looser. Despite the huge "politically correct" statements being made. Despite the sacrifice the writing is going to take just to please a specific audience. I'll do it because I'm a fan of the "Arrowverse" and despite the long history of flops from the DCEU, I'm interested to see where this is going.

What are your thoughts on the trailer? Will you watch this show? Has the CW "Dared to Defy" too much? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
